Fit India School Week

An Inter School Speed Skating Competition was held at Shemford, Pinjore on November 23, in which around 30 schools from the tricity participated. It was a spectacular treat to the eyes of all sports lovers to see the enthusiastic skaters all set to skate with their competitors on the synthetic skating rink in the school campus. The event began by welcoming the chief guest Chairman, Shemrock and Shemford Group of Schools, Dr. D. R. Arora. The event was also graced by Dr. Mrs. Bimla Arora, Director, Shemford Pinjore. Dr. Arora blew the first whistle to initiate the competition.

A many as 150 students exhibited their skating skills in the neck to neck competition. The competition was divided into different categories i.e. U-5, 5-7, 7-9, 9-11, 11-14 and above 14 years of age. All categories had separate groups of boys and girls.

A Speed Walk Race for the parents was also organized keeping in view the Fit India Movement Sport week initiated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi. Medals and prizes were distributed to the winners at the end of the event.

Dr. Mrs. Bimla Arora, in her address highlighted the importance of pollution free environment of the school for the physical & mental growth of young generation. After all, a healthy mind rests in a healthy body.
