The 70th Republic Day was celebrated with pride and a patriotic fervour at Shemford Futuristic School, Pinjore. Ms. Amita Dhaka, the school Principal unfurled the tricolour.  In her address to the gathering, she expilicited the meaning of Republic and sensitised all present about their responsibility towards the nation. Thereafter, the Shemstars were all prepared to express their love and respect for India and the martyrs who brought home freedom through various cultural programmes . Patriotic songs and dances were presented by the students from different wings. The tiny tots from the Pre-primary wing came dressed in different costumes from different states of India. It was indeed mesmerising to see a child of UKG playing Vande Mataram on the harmonium. They depicted their fervour in their own little way. A ray of hope and strength was felt as the students of classes 1 & 2 exhibited the national symbols and spoke out slogans with zeal and enthusiasm. Speeches and poems recited by the students of the senior classes confirmed that the children of today are all set to be the leaders of the nation tomorrow. The valley echoed with the patriotic songs presented by the senior students with whom sang the entire audience. The programme concluded with the presentation of the national anthem in the form of dance after which ‘Jai Hind’ resounded for long in the arena. Sweets were distributed to all gathered for the function.

After the cultural programme, the students were given time to play games of their choice. They also enjoyed in the newly developed Adventure Court in the school campus.  The school has started ‘Khelo Shemstars’ an initiative on the lines of ‘Khelo India’ concept of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. Shemford looks forward to giving players at the national level in the near future.
